Learn to sew with me!

Want to join me on an adventure? I found this sewing machine on craigslist for a very reasonable price. And, since my birthday is coming up, Brian bought it for me! But, I have never sewn a stitch! "Sew", over the next few weeks, I will be posting updates on my progress. My mom is taking me to Joann's for my birthday to get me all the supplies I need and some cute fabrics and such. I can't wait to get started! Stay tuned for pics of my 1st projects.

And, since I am brand new to this, I would love some input from some more experienced seamstresses! Any advice or stories you would like to share would be greatly appreciated!

So...this is my only piece of advice...Learn to LOVE your seam ripper...and ALWAYS remember to give yourself LOTS of seam allowance. It's easy to make something smaller...and impossible to make your squirmy 5 year old stand still long enough to squeeze them into something that's a tad too small :D I can't wait to see your projects :D

Hi Emily! Sewing is so much fun...especially for a Mommy of girls! Have you ever heard of pillow case dresses? They are super simple to make and are so adorable. I think I got my patterns & instructions off of ebay so you might want to check there. Since having Michael about the only sewing I do is on my scrapbooking layouts---LOVE TO DO THIS! Have fun, the possibilites are endless when it comes to sewing!
